MIXTAPE MONDAYS: DJ Moma

This week's entry for "Mixtape Mondays" is from my good friend DJ Moma aka Prince Akeem aka The African Goat Herder (see below for more details). His mixtape is entitled "Soul by the Pound: The UK Soul Mix" and it's an amazing mix of British R&B classics from the 80's and 90's. This mixtape is in constant rotation @ the shop and it's personally one of my all time favorites. Moma spins regularly in NY and has an incredible Monday night party he does every week called "The Good Spot" @ 105 Rivington (check out their article in URB Magazine). Everytime I visit NY, me and the fellas make a religious stop at "The Good Spot" right after our ritual mixed grill dinner and hookah session at "Horus Cafe" on 6th & Ave B. Moma also does a monthly jump-off at APT with DJ Eleven every second Friday called "Special Delivery" (here's a link for a special cd they made for the party). I consider Mo's taste in music to be one of the best and he's always on top of amazing new tracks everytime I see him. His eclectic catalog and vast knowledge of music is sick and he's definitely put me onto a bunch of hidden gems to play at the clubs.
