MIXTAPE MONDAYS: DJ RUMOR

This week's entry for "Mixtape Mondays" is called "90's R&B Mix" by NYC's own DJ Rumor. As soon as I saw the tracklisting on this mixtape I immediately knew I was gonna like it. He has well known hits like "Freak Like Me" by Adina Howard, "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega, "Candy Rain" by Soul For Real to forgotten jams like "Where I Wanna Be" by Miss Jones & "Just Wanna Please U (Rmx)" by Mona Lisa featuring The LOX (pre-Bad Boy era). Even though I never met Rumor before, I've heard nothing but good things. You can catch him spinning the half-time show during the Knicks games at Madison Square Garden or at local venues like Griffin or Kastel in the Trump Soho. Many thanks to DJ Rumor for reminding us how dope R&B was back in the days. Enjoy Knyewtrons...Neva

MIXTAPE MONDAYS: The Notorious Party Boys

This week's entry for "Mixtape Mondays" is a special collaboration CD by DJ Ross One & DJ Roctakon, 2 of the dopest DJ's in the club scene right now. Instead of putting out a typical dance CD, Ross & Roc decided to compile a mix of music that represented the wild times that they shared throughout the years. The result is "The Notorious Party Boy Soundtrack". I haven't stopped listening to it since it released this past Friday. They put together an extremely well crafted mix with the latest club hits from Usher, Far Eastmovement & Katy Perry & also dropped some classic jams from Morrisey, David Bowie, The Pointer Sisters & Billy Idol that I even forgot about. Roctakon even took it back & did a "Re-Work" (I'm not feeling the word "Mash-Up" so I'll just say "Re-Work") of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance". If these guy's are ever spinning in your city, it's a must that you check them out live. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy Knyewtrons...Neva

Some of you Knyewtron's might remember Roctakon from our "Mixtape Mondays" post 2 years ago when we featured his "Good Life" mixtape. When he's not causing trouble in Paris or skate boarding around downtown New York, you can find Roc spinning at some of the biggest clubs in the country (Greenhouse in NY & Wall in Miami). Ross One, originally from Cincinnati, OH, also got his claim to fame in New York but later moved to Miami in 2006 where he immediately made a quick name for himself with his infamous "Favela Chic" parties at Mokai. Ross One was recently in Las Vegas, spinning New Years Eve at Marquee for an amazing room of celebrities & music industry monsters like Jay-Z, Kanye West, Chris Martin from Cold Play, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna & 50 Cent (check out the Youtube clip).

MIXTAPE MONDAYS: DJ Rick Rude

This week's entry for "Mixtape Mondays" is something a bit different then what's usually posted. It's an eclectic mix of dance/alternative/80's r&b/electro made by the homie DJ Rick Rude. His CD is entitled "Casablanca" & it's definitely one of the best mixes I've heard to blend all of those different types of genre's into one CD. Originally from Boston (sorry kid, it's all about the Yankees lol), Rick Rude moved to Los Angeles 2 years ago & since then, he's become one of the most sought after DJ's in the Hollywood scene, holding down residencies in LA's hot spots like Trousdale & Hemingways. And at the young age of 23, Rick Rude recently signed with S.K.A.M. Artist DJ Management (also home to Knyew's own DJ Crooked) & is one of the youngest DJ's on their roster. The way things are going, I won't be surprised to see Rick spinning out in Las Vegas in the near future. Good looks on the putting together a solid CD fam. Enjoy Knyewtrons...Neva

Knyewtron Sightings!!!

Every now and then, you may come across an ill mannered citizen, suspiciously lurking in your peaceful surroundings & wearing some gear from our shop. On occasion, there might be a frightening, unsettling member of our society, conducting some lewd or unsettling act in public while repping our store name on a t-shirt or even a sticker (there's no junk on this planet that a Knyew sticker never loved...see below). This degenerate scumbag may be a regular customer of ours. This beer guzzling ass groper might even be a personal friend to the shop. Either way, there's one thing in common...they're "Knyewtrons". You may be asking yourself, "what's a Knyewtron?" Knyewtrons are supporters to the KNYEW cause & firm believers in the KNYEW movement. If you see a Knyewtron getting chased by LVPD, looking down your mom's blouse or sipping your unattended drink in the club...take a picture of them & tweet it, post it on facebook, or email us at orders@knyew.com with the subject "Knyewtron Sighting!!!" We'll be watching out for you Knyewtrons!! Crooked signing out...

Here's our boy from Beantown DJ G-Squared repping KNYEW's own black "MLB" t-shirt & hanging with NY's Finest DJ Funkmaster Flex after their set at Blush Nightclub in the Wynn.

One of KNYEW's very first customers ever & long time friend DJ OB-One is seen here fitted in our white "MLB" tee during his set at the infamous Rehab Pool Party in the Hardrock. Check out OB's dubstep group HavocNdeeD Sound that's been making noise on BeatPort.com. You can also check their tracks on SoundCloud.com.

Here's our homie Moose aka Moose-O-Libre from The Light Group getting some feminine attention in our limited edition Skam Artist x Knyew collaboration tee. We ain't mad...(yes we are).

Here's Minneapolis native & local Las Vegas dancemusic dj/producer Justin Baule flexing his Cristal muscles in KNYEW's red "Everywhere" tank top. He's got some great remixes & edits posted on SoundCloud.com, check'em out.

Local Las Vegas graphic designer/illustrator & long time KNYEW supporter Obey Jef is seen here in our red "Everywhere" tank top, hanging with some unlucky father's daughter at Encore Beachclub. Once again...we're not mad (oh yes we are!).

We get alot of love on twitter & it's a lil hard to keep up with all our Knyewtron's twitpics & plixi flicks sometimes. Here's a few snapshots we caught on twitter over the past couple of months. Shout to #Knyewtron @brandonfcukngee rocking our black "Knyew Script" tank top. Can't front, I've always wanted to drop a deuce in a lime green bathroom (I'm jelly).

Here's #Knyewtron @donzzz808 parking lot pimping with KNYEW's shop girl Jaz in our black "Knyew Script" tank top.

Here's a cool pic from #Knyewtron @antheezzy rocking our heather charcoal "Knyew Script" tank top at Wynn. Creative angle guys...great flick!

Kenn's Agenda Show Recap

Trade show season has officially kicked off for 2011! Trade shows are always a great way for us to find new underground brands making noise, follow up with contacts in our crazy industry & establish new business opportunities for KNYEW. The first show on tap for 2011 was the Agenda Trade Show in Anaheim, CA. From the garage-run clothing lines on the verge of explosion, to the well-established elite, Agenda caters to the needs of buyers & streetwear brands that exist on a higher level of design & aesthetic. With a strong emphasis in style, art, music and culture, the Agenda experience is as much a lesson as it is a tool. Here is my recap...or at least what I can share.

This was the walk way leading into the Trade Show for Agenda. I couldn't help but admire this montage of words & photos. I walked away feeling a tad bit inspired.

As soon as you walk in, you instantly get a warm welcome from the dj blasting uncomfortably loud music through out the convention hall. I think he was with Skull Candy...not quite sure (Neva thought he was Large Professor).

Always good to see the fellas from The Hundreds. Their new line of Hundreds Footware for Fall 2011 is pretty sick. They took their kicks to another level this year. Stay tuned.

I noticed that Black Scale is making damn near everything these days...can't knock the hustle (don't hate Dr.Dre).

There was a graf artist was painting this piece all day Thursday & Friday during the show. I regret not seeing it finished before I left.

I had to make a quick stop at the Huf booth to see the homie, fellow lurker & scumbag extraordinaire Keith (Magic Trade Show is only a month or so away homie!).

I'll give you one guess which brand this Medusa belongs to...

I stopped by Good Wood NYC & they gave their Jesus Piece a new make over for 2011. I dig it.

I know what I'm going to be for Halloween! Maybe I can talk Good Wood into making banana hammocks to complete the fit?

Here's an actual bar code that Good Wood NYC made that instantly transfers their contact information when you scan it...whoa!
